We’re delighted that Allan Brothers has been shortlisted in the “Employer of the Year” category of the 2024 Best of Northumberland Awards
This regional award, organised by National World, recognises companies that have shown commitment to the development and welfare of their employees by encouraging communication, creativity and proactivity as well as creating a fulfilling work environment with good staff relations, retention and opportunities for training. The award attracts entries from across the region.
“Our nomination is a significant marker in the company’s development,” said managing director Morten Bach Valsted. “It’s a reminder of how far we have come and how the enthusiasm and commitment of the entire team continues to make Allan Brothers such a positive and friendly workplace.”
We have many things to be proud of …
- This year, Allan Brothers was the first manufacturing business in Berwick-upon-Tweed and the third in Northumberland to pay its staff the ‘Real Living Wage.
- Our latest score in the ‘Great Place to Work’ employee Trust Index jumped to 80% satisfaction from 64%. The Great Place to Work committee continues to meet regularly to discuss how Allan Brothers can become an even better workplace!
- We are proud to have an open-door policy, where employees can voice their concerns to any of our managers and our suggestion boards dotted around the factory have also resulted in improvements.
- We are pleased that so many of our production staff have taken the opportunity to upskill and we remain committed to training and career development as a central pillar of our success.
- One of the highlights has been the success of our engineering apprentice Rafal in winning ‘Engineering/Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year’ in the 2024 North East Apprenticeship Awards.
- As the business has invested in state-of-the-art machinery our efficiency is improving and, to top it all, we won the Northumberland & Tyneside regional heat of 2024 North East Business Awards.
We have made a lot of progress in making Allan Brothers a better workplace but, as always, we value your comments and suggestions on how to make it better.
We’re confident that there’ll be lots more positive news to come!
