Research findings

Research carried out by Imperial College London shows that even with low levels of maintenance, our windows, which are manufactured to Wood Window Alliance standards, have a service life of at least 60 years and in more sheltered locations could last 80 years or more.

With a lifespan, which exceeds today's buildings service life expectancy, our windows have a significantly lower Whole Life Cost and represent better long-term value than plastic windows - even taking maintenance into account.

Carbon negative

Buildings are responsible for 52% of the UK's annual C02 emissions with each home producing around 6 tonnes of C02 each year*.

The timber we use to manufacture our windows is carbon negative. This means that even after harvesting, transport and manufacture, our window frames absorb more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than they create, saving around 89kgs of C02e (Equivalent Carbon Dioxide) over their lifetime, or around three-quarters of a tonne of CO2e on average per house.

An equivalent plastic window, which has just half the lifespan of our timber frames will create around 75kgs of C02e**.
